British Pathe clip showing a GPO streamlined car, used for publicity purposes on the Royal Air Mail Service runs to Croydon Airport, and loading an Imperial Airways Handley Page HP42 Airliner
It would be great if this vehicle was surviving, somewhere - realistically though it was probably scrapped long ago, like a lot of British streamlined vehicles
The art-deco car was, in fact, a 15 cwt van stripped to the chassis & the new body built on top. The vehicle was rebuilt back to the standard van body - late 1930's.
Absolutely Fantastic! What incredible DECO style. Great post.
